Savoury Sausages – Central Cookery Book (Tasmania)

THIS is by far, the BEST curried sausages recipe ever.  We have tried many, but always fall back on this one!

My mother had the Central Cookery Book as a text book for school – I had to have one, and bought one when I moved out of home for the first time! Been using it since!  Now my boys want a copy each.

You can get this book either on eBay or here: Central Cookery Book/A C Irvine

No.. I’m not getting a commission – but it’s the best book I have ever owned, it taught me how to cook, and every recipe is adaptable! Anyway, on with the Curried Sausages! The veggie slice is on another page, goes perfectly with this feed!

Here is the recipe – and I’m going to share a picture of the page because it shows just how often this book has been used!

You’ll notice I have made some changes – I don’t grate my carrot every time. I like it thinly sliced – I also love my onion chunky.  It’ll work either way! I also recommend, just to add a little flavour, caramelizing the onion with the carrot before adding it – and I like to add the sausages and give them a  little fry also.  Didn’t do it this time, I guess because I knew photos were going to be taken. I also use more curry – at least double – depending on your taste, otherwise it is a little mild.

In the past, other veggies have been added also – very adaptable depending on what you want!

It says here to cover and cook in the oven or use a frypan.  I have always used the fry pan – until I got my tagine – now I cook it in that.

My kids love this, their friends love it.  It’s become one of the most popular meals in the house.  Serve either on rice, or with mash.. and as you can see this time I have served with a mildly curried vegetable surprise bake.  More about that in another post.

Try this, it is gorgeous!
