Cooking for Health. A ramble..

One of my favorite sites is Skinnymixers – go have a look at the amazing meals Nik creates in her Thermomix! Yes, I have ordered the books, I have tried a lot of recipes – the meals are wonderful! Nik has lost a lot of weight by using her creations.  I, too, have lost a lot of weight – moved from a massive size 20 down to a 16 so far (1year) and am pretty happy with that.

This came from being much more aware of what is going into my body.  I no longer use packet mixes for anything, all sauces & marinades are made by me.  My pantry is SO full of herbs and spices! The entire kitchen has turned into a healthy and wonderful place!

By creating everything myself, I have found more enjoyment in cooking.  I strive to cook something different every day – although do return to a few favorites on occasion. I used to hate cooking! SO mundane, meat and 5 vegs, meat and 3 vegs, same old stuff day in day out.. pasta meals – boring because they were the SAME recipe.

Now, even my (adult) kids are excited to try whatever is being made each day and I have been surprised to see just what they will eat!

I now have a massive herb garden – there is nothing more satisfying than going outside and picking my own FRESH herbs!

Taste – new ones! The creations extend to making meals for the numerous cultures within my workplace!

That’s just a few of the dishes I have been doing – not to mention the pantry goodies!.. Oh gosh!!!

Spreadable butter, sweet mustard pickles, strawberry jam, peanut butter, nutella, – just to name a few.  I also have tomato paste, tomato sauce, tomato relish, marmalade, home made spice mixes.  In the fridge and freezer, home made stocks! YUM!! This Thermomix has turned me into a monster – together with the air fryer, tagine, and GOOD fry pans, which I’ve never had before.

I am using ingredients I never knew existed – and the flavours we are getting now are just amazing!

If you really don’t like cooking – try putting some TIME and LOVE into it.  Respect the ingredients and you will reap the rewards, and possibly discover a whole new ‘hobby’.

I could go on forever, but going to stop here! Obviously I have a lot more posts to do .. so much cooking, so little time to blog.
